Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
EnergyCheck.au ("EnergyCheck", "we", "us" or "our") is an independent residential energy enquiry and quote-matching service. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use our website, complete an Energy Check, submit a solar-company partnership enquiry or otherwise contact us.
We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- your name, mobile number, email address and preferred contact time;
- property information such as address, state, homeownership status and service-area details;
- energy-related information such as whether you are interested in solar, battery storage or both, and your approximate electricity bill range;
- for solar-company enquiries, company name, decision-maker status, service area, sales or appointment-setting capacity and lead-buying information;
- verification and security information, including whether a mobile number has been successfully verified, anti-bot results, fraud or abuse signals, timestamps and submission risk flags;
- technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, referring page and campaign or UTM information where available.
2. How we collect information
We generally collect information directly from you when you complete a form, verify your mobile number, interact with the website or contact us. We may also receive limited technical information automatically from our hosting, security, analytics and communications providers.
3. Why we collect and use it
We may use personal information to:
- process and assess your Energy Check or partnership enquiry;
- confirm service-area or basic enquiry fit;
- verify a mobile number and protect our forms from bots, spam, fraud or abuse;
- contact you about the enquiry you submitted;
- where appropriate, introduce or disclose a residential enquiry to one matched solar or battery provider so that provider may contact you about the requested quote or energy options;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website and lead-delivery systems;
- measure campaign and website performance; and
- meet legal, regulatory, accounting or dispute-resolution requirements.
4. Who we may share information with
We do not publish your enquiry or intentionally distribute it to a list of installers. If your residential enquiry appears suitable, we may disclose relevant enquiry information to one matched provider servicing your area so they can follow up about the enquiry you requested.
We may also disclose information to service providers that help us operate the website and workflow, such as website hosting, phone-verification, anti-bot/security, data storage, analytics, automation and business-notification providers. Our current or planned providers may include Netlify, Twilio, Cloudflare and Google services. We only aim to provide the information reasonably necessary for those services to perform their role.
5. Overseas processing
Some technology providers we use operate infrastructure outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. As a result, limited personal or technical information may be processed or stored outside Australia. The exact location may vary according to the service provider and its infrastructure.
6. SMS verification and contact consent
We may use a one-time SMS code to verify that a mobile number is genuine. Verification does not create an account. By submitting an Energy Check, you consent to EnergyCheck.au and, if your enquiry is matched, one matched provider contacting you by phone or SMS about that enquiry. You may tell us or the provider that you no longer wish to be contacted.
7. Cookies, analytics and advertising technology
We may use cookies, pixels or similar technologies to keep the site functioning, understand website performance, attribute enquiries to advertising or referral sources and improve our marketing. Where required, these technologies will be used subject to applicable consent or settings.
8. Security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect the information we handle. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for enquiry handling, business records, security, dispute resolution and legal obligations, after which we may delete or de-identify it where practical.
9. Access and correction
You may ask us to provide access to personal information we hold about you or to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Privacy questions and complaints
If you have a privacy question, access/correction request or complaint, contact privacy@energycheck.au. Please include enough information for us to understand and investigate the issue. We will aim to respond within a reasonable period.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, technology providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be published at this URL with an updated date.
